Dear Friends,
In the United States, every 30 seconds a child needs the Poison Center and every 39 seconds an adult needs the Poison Center. Harmful and even fatal poisonings that affect children and adults can be caused by the misuse of medications, chemicals and cleaning agents, cosmetics, plants, food, and pesticides. We are encouraging everyone to take the necessary steps to reduce the number of unintentional poisonings. These steps begin with education!
March 15-21, 2009 is National Poison Prevention Week. Public Law 87-319 was signed into law on September 16, 1961 by President Kennedy, after which the Poison Prevention Week Council was organized to coordinate this annual event.
The Long Island Regional Poison and Drug Information Center would like to offer you poison prevention materials to help promote the event.

Here are additional ways you can help: Our collaborative efforts can increase awareness and possibly reduce the
number of unintentional poisonings.
